Tell us what you need

Incorporation is not the end of your tax setup

CIPC registers the company. SARS is a separate authority with separate registrations, and neither does the other's work. This service prepares and submits the SARS side. We are a filing company, not SARS.

Which registrations you actually need

RegistrationTriggerWhen
Income taxEvery company, alwaysFrom incorporation — confirm it on eFiling yourself
VATTaxable supplies over R1 million in 12 monthsMandatory at the threshold, voluntary below it
PAYEYou pay any salary, including a director'sBefore the first payment
UIFYou have employeesWith PAYE
SDLAnnual payroll above the SARS thresholdWith the payroll registrations

Most new companies need exactly one of these on day one: income tax. Everything else is triggered by turnover or by hiring.

Registering for VAT in month one because it sounds professional buys you returns you do not need and penalties if you file them late. Confirm the current VAT threshold with SARS before you decide — thresholds are policy, and policy moves.

A director's salary is a salary

The most common mistake in a one-person company is reasoning that there is "no staff", so PAYE cannot apply. If the company pays you, it is paying a salary. Check SARS guidance against your actual facts rather than against what feels reasonable.

COIDA is not on this list

UIF registers alongside PAYE. Injury-on-duty cover is a different thing entirely: it sits with the Compensation Fund, outside SARS, and if you employ anybody you need both. See COIDA registration.

The step that blocks everything else

SARS will not let anyone act for a company until a registered representative is recorded and verified. A company can hold a valid income tax number and still be locked out of its own eFiling profile. Founders usually discover this in the week they need something urgently — a compliance PIN for a tender, or an answer for a bank.

Do it early, while nothing depends on it. We handle it as SARS registered representative.

What we need

Company name, registration number, and which registrations you want. If an eFiling profile already exists, say so, because it changes the route.

An order of operations that saves pain

  1. Incorporate and get the CoR14.3
  2. Confirm the income tax number on eFiling
  3. Record and verify the registered representative
  4. Open the bank account
  5. Add VAT and payroll registrations only when turnover or hiring triggers them
  6. Request a tax compliance PIN if you will quote corporates or government
